Terence MacSwiney “The Woven Dream” Commemoration and Legacy

This year Green Curtain Theatre will be marking the centenary of the death of Terrence MacSwiney, the Lord Mayor of Cork in Ireland who died in Brixton prison after a 74 day hunger fast on October 25th 1920.

We had planned to stage a play “Muriel” to mark the centenary of the Lord Mayor’s death  but Covid 19 halted our plans. Instead we filmed a piece of Lockdown Theatre called “The Woven Dream” which will be made available here on our website in September 2020. Click here to view the trailer.

As many people are not familiar with the story of the Lord Mayor’s death, we thought it would be useful to provide some historical background of that time as well as a short biography of  Terrence and Muriel MacSwiney. You can access this information by clicking on the links below.
