Playwriting workshop_November

Cecil Sharpe House, London NW1 – Saturday November 11th 2017

Leaving It All Behind by Jimmy Lawlor

Join us for this one day writing workshop where we will be focussing on how to write a monologue for performance, whether this is a ‘standalone’ performance’ or as part of a play. We will look at three types of monologue: ‘internal’, ‘external’ and narrative monologues.
We will use images from contemporary Irish artists including Bernard Canavan, Gillian Hyland, Margaret Egan, Jimmy Lawlor and Brian Whelan  as our starting point for subjects,

The day will include a mixture of ‘hands on’ exercises, text analysis, discussion and writing as we cover what makes a ‘good’ monologue.

Topics include:
•Understanding the ‘heart’ of your subject
•Choosing a suitable narrative for your subject
•Making your subject ‘come alive’

Our teaching style is supportive and friendly and will suit complete beginners as well as more experienced writers. This workshop will be of particular interest to those who have an Irish heritage.

Joining Green Curtain Director Anne Curtis as guest tutor will be Gemma Mills McGrath.

The workshop will take place in Central London on Saturday November 11th 2017. Click here to book
